Houston Audubon celebrated the sixth annual Bird Week at the end of September. 44 different events were held throughout the region, which was the highest number of activities of any Bird Week to date! This was only made possible thanks to the hard work of our fantastic partner organizations, volunteers, and participants.
This year, the events ranged from bird walks and trash cleanups to learning how to draw birds at the Brush and Beak with Linda Feltner. We started by kicking off the week celebrating Latino Conservation Week and Hispanic Heritage Month in partnership with Madres Del Parque and Harris County Precinct 4 at Burnett Bayland Park. The party was filled with bird-related fun for the entire family including face painting, birdy exercises, and origami! The week ended with a Fun Run with the Freaks Run Club and a birdy costume contest at Frost Town Brewing, home to this year’s bird beer, the Ruby-throated Hummingbeer.
We were thrilled that there were many new birders and nature enthusiasts at the Bird Week events, and hope you were inspired to continue to be involved in the great conservation efforts throughout the Houston and Upper Gulf Coast region.
Thank you to all of our partners for helping us offer a wonderful calendar of events with something for everyone! We look forward to another great year with Bird Week 2025 and hope to see you then. But for those impatient for next Bird Week be sure to check out Houston Audubon’s social media and website for more events and ways to get involved.
