Houston Bird Week 2026: A New Chapter and New Successes

Houston Bird Week 2026 was a year of new partnerships and ideas, as well as a new name and chapter for Birds Houston. The eighth annual Bird Week featured 51 events held throughout the Houston region, with over 2,500 attendees flocking to participate.

Continued collaborations and first-time fundraisers took place at the Kick-Off Party hosted by Frost Town Brewing. This year, Frost Town brewed another collaboration beer, the Lights Out Lager, to remind us to keep our lights out during the vital migration seasons. 20% of proceeds from the beer went towards Birds Houston. The Kick-Off Party also featured a fresh, new fundraiser: bird-themed flash-tattoos, courtesy of three talented tattoo artists. The flash tattoos were especially a soaring success, as attendees were thrilled to get some new ink to display their love of birds, all while helping to raise money for our feathery friends.

The variety of events was as diverse as the bird species that pass through Texas. From bird walks and bayou boat tours, to yoga and crafts, to trivia and movie nights, and to classes on birding & gardening, Bird Week had something for everyone. The events came to a close with the Community Party at Camden Park Westchase. With family-friendly activities, live birds, Birds Houston merchandise, and beautiful weather, it was a perfect end to the week-long celebration.

Along with the events, what makes Bird Week meaningful is the community surrounding it. Whether attendees were joining a bird walk at one of the area’s beautiful parks, learning about native plants & bird-friendly habitats, or meeting up with familiar faces & connecting with new friends at a social, the participants who took the time to celebrate with and support Birds Houston made the biggest impact. Young or old, beginner or expert birder, or just a curious passerby, the community is what helped to make this annual celebration so memorable.

Thank you to all of the wonderful partners, hard-working volunteers, and attendees who helped to make Bird Week 2026 such a success! We are grateful to everyone who played a role in celebrating with us this year. We look forward to doing this again next year and hope you will join us then!
